Meet Erik Dyce

Erik Dyce holds the position of President and CEO at Vencore Marine Group, LLC, overseeing the operations of Pelican Bay located at Cherry Creek State Park. The encompassing facilities include The Marina, The Lake House, The Pub, and Paddle Sport Beach.

Recognized locally as "Mr. Red Rocks," Erik retired as the Chief Marketing Officer of the City and County of Denver's Arts and Venues division. In addition to Red Rocks Amphitheater, the division manages eight other venues. Throughout his extensive 25-year tenure, Erik played a crucial role in establishing the foundations and driving the momentum that transformed Denver into a renowned cultural center.

During his time, Erik effectively managed marketing and sponsorships for over 1,300 events held at the venues, attracting millions of attendees each year. His innovative marketing strategies and ability to identify hidden assets enabled the venues to generate millions of dollars in revenue.

Currently, Erik is spearheading an exciting new venture at Pelican Bay within Cherry Creek State Park. He has established partnerships with Island Lake Marine, Rocky Mountain Paddleboard, Community Sailing of Colorado, Mile High Rowing Club, Avid 4 Adventure, Denver Sailing Association, Victoria Sailing School, and Rocky Mountain Rowing Club. The Marina, The Lake House Event Center, and the rental facility promise to deliver exceptional experiences.

Erik's passions encompass a diverse range of activities, all rooted in thrilling adventures and meaningful social interactions. From his background in the music, live entertainment, and marina industries to pursuits such as sailing, flying, horsemanship, and diving, elements from each of these experiences will be interwoven into his future business endeavors.

Drawing upon his past involvement with live entertainment, venues, and interactions with various artists, Erik offers a unique perspective and invaluable real-life expertise. Pelican Bay at Cherry Creek State Park serves as the launching pad for his exciting projects, aimed at enhancing revenue for the owners involved.

Looking ahead, Erik envisions further adventure-oriented initiatives, including ventures in flying, diving, and sailing. He seeks out distinctive opportunities that allow people to experience our planet in unconventional ways not typically offered by traditional experiential travel. As the world undergoes changes, Erik remains cognizant of current ecological concerns and considers how they may impact environmentally sensitive travel destinations. Jonathan Erik Dyce began his career with the City on April 18, 1989, as Assistant Facility Manager at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and McNichols Sports Arena. He is retiring on April 6, 2012. Erik has been a master at promoting Red Rocks and a true visionary. The Denver City Council hereby recognizes J. Erik Dyce for his outstanding contributions to the civic and cultural life of the City, as well as his passion for supporting up-and-coming artists.

Erik's notable accomplishments include:

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Organizing the 1997 Summit of the Eight

  • Hosting the 1990 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four

  • Designing and opening the Visitor Center at Red Rocks

  • Establishing the 13-year-old Film On The Rocks series, featuring concerts by numerous Colorado bands

  • Managing the visit of Pope John Paul, for which he received special commendations from the Pope and the United States Secret Service

  • Creating the first sponsorship program at Theatres and Arenas venues, generating millions of dollars in support

  • Producing the first nationally-distributed CDs in the "Carved In Stone" series, featuring live recordings of major artists' concerts at Red Rocks

  • Leading the campaign to feature Red Rocks on the back of the Colorado quarter

  • Executive producing the pilot television series "Live & On The Rocks - The Coors Light Mountain Jam"

  • Establishing the first privately-run Colorado Welcome Center at Red Rocks

  • Producing the souvenir book "From Dinosaurs to Rock 'N Roll"

  • Publishing the coffee table book "Sacred Stones" on the history of Red Rocks

  • Negotiating to include Red Rocks as part of the 2012 Women's NCAA Final Four

  • Assisting in the production of the Red Rocks documentary "The Rocks Are Red," by Denver's own Oscar winner Donna Dewey
